Hello! Please note this post is sponsored by TurmSkin. However, this was my honest comparison having used these products. Thanks for visiting!
There are hundreds of options to choose from! And trying each one can get expensive!
So what brand should you choose from? Lancôme? Estée Lauder? The Ordinary? La Roche-Posay? We're spoiled with choices!!
And which concentration is best? 1%? 2%? Or should you go for the maximum legal 3%? Does it need to be combined with peptides like Matrixyl? Or Argireline? It just never ends!
I've been a clinical dermatologist for 15 years now. At my practice in California where we see everything from sun damage to premature aging, I help successfully treat patients with various skin concerns such as:
1. Stubborn fine lines & wrinkles
2. Uneven complexions
3. Dark spots
4. Dry, sensitive, or oily skin
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the most researched active ingredients that can produce visible anti-aging results.
Time and time again it's been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to its ability to help support intense skin hydration.
I often recommend to my patients to use an anti-aging Hyaluronic Acid serum in their skincare routine to visibly treat aging-related skin concerns.
However, a lot of Hyaluronic Acid formulations are laden with cheap fillers and chemical nasties meaning you're really paying for the ridiculous retail markups, celebrity endorsements, and fancy packaging.
Now there are some brands out there that really focus on providing high-quality Hyaluronic Acid formulations that provide real results, instead of wasting it on celebrities and expensive cardboard.
Fortunately, being a dermatologist and obsessed skincare addict - I've tested dozens of Hyaluronic Acid serums, so you don't have to waste money and time to look and feel your best.
Recently, I've been updating my list of 5 of the top Hyaluronic Acid serums with some new favorites that I want to share with you. So here are 5 of my favorite Hyaluronic Acid serums…
"Doc, have you gotten younger since the last time I saw you?"
These were the words from one of my patients I hadn't seen in half a year, and all after using TurmSkin for barely two weeks!
"Gosh! Your mouth lines are gone - and your forehead is so smooth!" But trust me, the lines were there, they had just visibly disappeared since using the TurmSkin 3% Hyaluronic Acid Ultra Hydrating Serum.
Right after I started using TurmSkin, the compliments about my "smooth" and "line-free" complexion from my patients just kept pouring in.
I've been using it almost daily for more than 6 months now. From the first application, my skin was almost instantly transformed - it appeared more hydrated, felt firmer, and the texture was visibly improved.
Within 2 weeks, I could see and really feel a difference in my skin, and the improvements just kept coming even after six months. The results from TurmSkin just don't stop, it's like the gift that keeps giving!
I've recommended TurmSkin to my patients, and the response has been fantastic. They all love it, feel it's worth every penny, and not a single negative comment so far.
Let me share my favorite story from a patient of mine who tried TurmSkin:
She had deep marionette lines around her mouth and prominent forehead wrinkles. After she tried TurmSkin, she was almost in tears, not only due to the dramatic smoothing of her mouth lines but because of how confident she felt about her skin. She felt less reliant on makeup and had started receiving compliments like, "What's your secret treatment? Did you get fillers?"
The only change she'd made was using TurmSkin.
So how does TurmSkin deliver such amazing visible anti-aging results?
First, it has the highest legal concentration - 3% Hyaluronic Acid. No cheap fillers and it's formulated without unnecessary additives. This is the maximum concentration allowed by law - 50-200% more than competitors charging triple the price. This serum really helped my skin feel more hydrated!
Next, the genius sterile vial packaging. Unlike regular bottles that start losing potency the moment you open them, TurmSkin comes in individual sterile vials that preserve maximum potency until the exact moment you use them. No preservatives needed, no oxidation, no degradation. Each application is as fresh and powerful as if it was just made. Compare this to Estée Lauder or The Ordinary's bottles that sit open for months, losing effectiveness every single day.
TurmSkin is also very easy to use. It has a very lightweight texture, going on smoothly and absorbing extremely quickly into the skin. It goes on lovely underneath moisturizer or makeup. It feels hydrating but not greasy or sticky. I don't feel it, and I love that I don't wake up in the morning with oily stains on my pillowcase.
Finally, the magic of the 4D molecular technology and clinical ingredients. The 4D hyaluronic acid molecules penetrate at different depths to hydrate every layer of your skin, while Matrixyl Collagen stimulates natural collagen production and Argireline provides a Botox-like effect to relax facial muscles. These potent active ingredients are designed to work together to help reveal a healthy-looking, radiant complexion.
Usually, maximum concentration hyaluronic acid and clinical peptides are sold separately in $100+ serums, so it's great to see them combined together in this powerful formulation. I have dry, sensitive skin, so I have to be careful with products, but TurmSkin doesn't irritate my skin at all, so I'd consider TurmSkin to be suitable for all skin types.
If you want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, especially around your mouth and forehead, look visibly younger, and get compliments like my patients and me - then you should give TurmSkin a try!
Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex is a tried-and-true classic in the world of anti-aging skincare. Since its introduction in 1982, this overnight serum has been formulated to work while you sleep.
When I used the Advanced Night Repair serum, it gave my skin a nice glow and felt luxurious. The dropper applicator makes it easy to control the amount.
The serum contains sodium hyaluronate (a form of hyaluronic acid), though Estée Lauder doesn't disclose the exact percentage - industry estimates suggest it's around 1-1.5%. It also includes Bifida Ferment Lysate for skin renewal and their proprietary ChronoluxCB™ technology.
I felt that Advanced Night Repair has a silky texture that glides onto the skin. However, it takes longer to absorb than TurmSkin and can feel a bit greasy, which some may find annoying. It's fragrance-free, which is good for sensitive skin, but it does contain synthetic dyes Red 4 and Yellow 5.
The reality: At $130 for 1.7oz, you're paying premium prices for what's likely 1/3 the concentration of TurmSkin. While it's a decent serum from a trusted brand, the math doesn't add up when you can get 3% concentration for less than half the price.
SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier represents the clinical approach to hyaluronic acid serums. This medical-grade formula is one of the few that actually discloses its concentration - 1.3% pure hyaluronic acid.
The serum also contains 10% Proxylane and 2% licorice root extract. SkinCeuticals claims it can boost your skin's natural hyaluronic acid levels by 30%, which is impressive.
Similar to TurmSkin, it targets multiple signs of aging including crow's feet and loss of firmness. The formula is designed to work well with professional treatments and dermal fillers - important for patients who combine topical and clinical approaches.
I found it effective for hydration, though not as dramatically plumping as TurmSkin's 3% formula. The texture is pleasant and absorbs well, though some patients report irritation with sensitive skin.
The downside: At $120-182 per ounce, it's one of the most expensive options. You're getting less than half the concentration of TurmSkin at nearly 4x the price. While it's a quality product backed by science, the value proposition is questionable.
For those seeking a budget-friendly option, The Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum has gained a cult following. This no-frills brand delivers 2% hyaluronic acid at just $8.90.
The formula includes multiple molecular weights of hyaluronic acid plus Vitamin B5 for added hydration support. The ingredient list is clean and simple - no unnecessary fillers or fragrances.
I appreciate The Ordinary's transparency and affordability. The 2% concentration is actually better than many luxury brands hiding behind undisclosed percentages.
However, there are significant drawbacks: The texture is notoriously sticky and tacky - patients consistently complain about this. It pills under other products and can't be worn under makeup. Some users experience stinging and irritation, possibly from the citric acid included.
Most importantly, while 2% is decent, it's still not the maximum 3% that provides optimal results. And unlike TurmSkin, it lacks additional anti-aging ingredients like peptides or collagen boosters.
The verdict: Good for basic hydration on a tight budget, but won't address dehydration lines or provide anti-aging benefits beyond surface moisture.
Lancôme's Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum has garnered a loyal following for its luxurious feel and brand prestige. This serum targets multiple aging concerns with a proprietary blend of ingredients.
The formula contains hyaluronic acid (concentration undisclosed, likely 1-2%), Bifida Ferment Lysate, and a Vitamin C complex. The self-loading dropper is convenient and the serum has a lightweight, fast-absorbing texture.
I found Advanced Génifique gave a nice immediate glow and didn't break me out despite being slightly acne-prone. However, it contains fragrance and alcohol, which may not suit dry or sensitive skin.
While Lancôme delivers a pleasant luxury experience, at $115 for 1oz, you're largely paying for beautiful packaging and marketing. The actual concentration and ingredients don't justify the premium price when compared to TurmSkin's 3% formula with clinical-grade peptides.
Stop buying separate eye creams and lip treatments. Turmskin Multi-Balm works as your anti-aging eye treatment, lip plumper, and makeup primer all in one convenient stick, saving money while delivering superior results.
After 15 years of practice and testing countless products, TurmSkin's 3% Ultra Hydrating Serum stands alone. It's the only serum combining maximum legal concentration with revolutionary delivery technology at an accessible price point.
If you've been disappointed by hyaluronic acid serums before, it's likely because you were using inferior concentrations. Don't waste another day with 1-2% formulas when 3% can transform your skin.
Your lines might not be wrinkles at all - they might be dehydration lines waiting to disappear.
